8 Ball Situation

I messed up my shape on the 8-ball a little bit and decided to shoot the 8-ball with high inside english to sent the cueball down table 'in case' I missed.  Would other have done this or been confident that the game was over?



I...of course rattled the 8-ball then my weak opponent made a 'master' like clean up of the table.
